Milena Roucka was born on O ctober 25, 1979, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There, she grew up, under the guidance of a single-father. After briefly studying Business at the University of British Columbia, she dropped out, to pursue a modeling career. After some success, she applied as a contestant in the 2006 WWE Diva Search Contest. Milena placed fourth in the Diva search contest, which was won by Layla El. Despite the loss, Milena was signed to a WWE development contract shortly after. In November 2006, Milena Roucka debut in WWE development territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling, as the valet for Bad Company (Shawn Osborne, Eddie Craven III and Mike Kruel). During her time in OVW, she wrestled ODB, Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Katie Lea, Serena, Maryse, Melody and more. Most notably, she won the OVW Women's Championship, on September 19, 2007, in a 6-Way match. Milena held the belt for 154 days--on February 20, 2008, Katie Lea beat Milena for the title.
After the WWE parted ways with OVW, Milena worked in Florida Championship Wrestling. There, she competed against The Bella Twins, Tiffany, Angela Fong, Wesley Holiday, Jenny Cash and more.
Milena made her return to WWE television, on the November 24, 2008 episode of Raw, as a Beth Phoenix "fan," in the crowd. In the weeks that followed, she continued holding up Beth signs. She then went by the name, "Rosa Mendes," and began to attack Beth's rival, Melina Perez. On January 19, episode of Raw, Santino Marella announced that Rosa was "hired," as Beth Phoenix's intern. Rosa then began accompanying Beth, and competing on Diva matches in the weeks that followed.
